Nestled in the mountains are many picturesque towns. There's Nelson's Victorian character. Revelstoke's alpine atmosphere. And the Bavarian-style village of Kimberley. All enhanced by the lushness of spring.
It was here, in Craigellachie on November 7, 1885, that the Last Spike was driven. It not only joined a railway from coast to coast, it brought a nation together.
Twelve major parks in all, each a protected wilderness area of incredible beauty. Perhaps the most spectacular is Yoho National Park, with its 28 impressive mountain peaks.
